Connecting two computers using a crossover ethernet cable is the safest and easiest way of transferring files, pictures, videos, and music. This data transfer creates a network for sharing data using two electronic resources, thus avoiding having a separate networking facility for each computer.
Steps to be followed:
Step 1: Verify that you have a crossover Ethernet cable.
Step 2: Connect the crossover Ethernet cable to the LAN (RJ45) ports of both computers.
Step 3: Open Control Panel and search for Network and Sharing Center and open it.
Step 4: Select and open the icon labeled “Unidentified network” from the network map at the top of the Network and Sharing Center window.
Step 5: Enable the option “Turn on network discovery and file sharing”.
Step 6: It may ask for Administrative Privileges, allow if asked.
Step 7: Both of your computers will now be visible in the Network and Sharing Center window, and you will have the ability to share files and other resources.
